Description

Product details

Digital Pull Off Adhesion Tester is unique instrument for adhesion and bond strength testing of all types of films, coatings, laminates, adhesives, metals plastic coatings, concrete coats, and mortars and plasters and other materials. It is portable, hand-operated instrument which is used to measure the force required to pull a specified test diameter of coating away from its substrate using hydraulic pressure. The pressure is displayed on a digital LCD and represents the coating’s strength of adhesion to the substrate. It evaluates the adhesion (pull-off strength) of a coating by determining the greatest tensile pull-off force that it can bear before detaching, breaking points, demonstrated by fractured surfaces, occur along the weakest plane within the system consisting of dolly, adhesive, coating layers and substrate. Specifications:  Dolly Size : 20mm(Standard);10mm、14mm、50mm(Optional)  Resolution : 0.01MPa(1psi)  Accuracy : ±1% Full scale  Max. Pull-off Pressure : o Φ10mm dolly →0-80 MPa;(Optional) o Φ14mm dolly→0-40 MPa;(Optional) o Φ20mm dolly→0-20 MPa;(Standard) o Φ50mm dolly→0-3.5 MPa;(Optional) Power : Built-in rechargeable lithium battery with standard charging adapter. Weight : 3 Kg Dimensions : 360 x 75 x 115 mm(LxWxH) Different Types of Pull off Adhesion Test Method for testing Testing coating adhesion is crucial to ensure the durability and performance of coatings on various surfaces. Several national and international organizations have established test methods to assess coating adhesion. Here are some widely recognized standards: International Test Standards: ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials): ASTM D3359 - Standard Test Methods for Measuring Adhesion by Tape Test: This method evaluates the adhesion of a coating by applying and removing pressure-sensitive tape on the coated surface. ASTM D4541 - Standard Test Method for Pull-Off Strength of Coatings Using Portable Adhesion Testers: It measures the tensile adhesion strength of a coating by applying a force perpendicular to the surface. ASTM D7234 - Standard Test Method for Pull-Off Adhesion Strength of Coatings on Concrete Using Portable Pull-Off Adhesion Tester. To assess the bond strength between a coating and a concrete substrate. The test involves applying a tensile force to a coating using a portable pull-off adhesion tester until the coating detaches from the concrete surface. The force required for detachment is then measured and used to determine the adhesion strength of the coating. ISO (International Organization for Standardization): ISO 4624 Paints and Varnishes – Pull-Off Test for Adhesion This standard provides a method for assessing the adhesion strength of a coating on a substrate. The pull-off test involves applying a tensile force to a coating perpendicular to the substrate using a specific adhesion tester until the coating is detached. ISO 2409 - Paints and Varnishes - Cross-Cut Test: This standard provides a method for assessing the resistance of paint coatings to separation from substrates using a cross-cut pattern. ISO 16276-1 - Corrosion Protection of Steel Structures by Protective Paint Systems - Assessment of, and Specifications for, the Adhesion of Coatings: It specifies a method for assessing the adhesion of coatings to metallic substrates. SSPC (The Society for Protective Coatings): SSPC-PA 2 - Procedure for Determining Conformance to Dry Coating Thickness Requirements: While not exclusively for adhesion, it involves checking the adhesion of a coating by making a series of cuts through the coating to the substrate. BSI (British Standards Institution): BS EN ISO 4624 - Paints and Varnishes - Pull-off Test for Adhesion: This standard specifies a method for assessing the pull-off strength of a coating using a portable adhesion tester. JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards): JIS K 5600-5-6 - Testing Methods for Paints - Part 5: Mechanical Properties of Film - Section 6: Adhesion Test - Cross-Cut Test: It is similar to ISO 2409 and involves making cuts in the coating to assess adhesion. DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung - German Institute for Standardization): DIN EN ISO 4624 - Paints and Varnishes - Pull-off Test for Adhesion: Similar to the ISO standard, this DIN standard specifies a method for assessing pull-off strength. When performing coating adhesion tests, it is essential to follow the specific procedures outlined in these standards to ensure accurate and reproducible results. Additionally, standards may be updated, so it's advisable to check for the latest revisions and editions of the standards relevant to your specific needs.
